WRITING QUEER UTOPIAS: a workshop for Stockton Libraries LGBTQ+ Festival!
In this 2 hour workshop, we work with writing hope and resistance vividly by crystallising moments in writing. We learn concrete tools for writing scenes, moments and poems that create empathy and help our reader or audience envision futures worth fighting for, not just in an abstract sense but with every cell in their body.
We find ways to work through our own writer’s block, creative pessimism or apathy. And we write to envision queer utopias. You will come out of the workshop with a few new poems, some concrete writing skills and some hard-earned hope. All levels of experience and all members of the LGBTQIA+ community welcome.
