Born in 1942 in Lima, author and activist Isabel Allende is the author of a whopping 21 novels and several short stories. She is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014. Widely considered to be one of the most popular Spanish language authors in the world, Allende is known for a feminist sensibility and a constantly evolving style.
