Polari First Book Prize Open for Submissions
As Polari held their Literary Salon at the Southbank, the call went out for submissions to this year's prize.

Named after the award winning literary salon established in 2007, the prize honours a first book that explores the LGBT experience and is open to any work of poetry, prose, fiction or non-fiction published between 2 February 2013 and 1 February 2014.

Last year’s prize was awarded to Mari Hannah for her crime novel The Murder Wall. Entries for this years prize should be submitted by the UK publisher. In the case of self-published books, either in print or digital format, submissions should include a letter describing why and how the project has been self-published. The deadline for submissions is 1 May 2014.

A longlist of up to 12 titles will be announced in July, and a shortlist of up to 5 titles announced in September. The winner is set to be announced on 8 October 2014 in the Purcell Room at the London Literature Festival.

We can’t wait to see this year’s winner.

Polari Literary Salon is based at the Southbank Centre, London and holds monthly events that showcase the best of LGBT literary talent and performance.
