Are You Tempted To Write?
17th Jan 2014
Monday 20th January brings with it the start of Tempted To Write, a short story competition hosted by Mills & Boon. Following the launch of their Modern Tempted imprint in September, the publishing company will be engaging with aspiring authors on Facebook and via Twitter.
Editor Flo Nicoll says:
‘We will be asking daily questions for ten days, designed to get people thinking about their characters, conflicts and plot. Each day, we will choose our favourite answer, and every winner will receive lovely Modern Tempted books as a prize.’
The questions, which have been designed with the intention of inspiring writing, will run from Monday to Friday starting on the 20th until the 31st. People will have 24 hours to submit their thoughts and ideas for each question. The following morning Mills & Boon will close that question and refresh with a new one.
Each question will be discussed over at Exploits of a Chick Lit Aficionado the following day, with a recap of some of the answers, analysis of how previous Modern Tempted authors have dealt with the topic in their novels, plus a giveaway of said novels for the Modern Tempted editors’ favourite answer.
After the final question, people will have until February 10th to submit their 10,000 word short Modern Tempted story. Modern Tempted editors will shortlist the stories and the final selection will be judged by current Modern Tempted authors.
The Tempted to Write winner will be announced on Valentine’s Day, receive an editorial mentor in Modern Tempted editor Clio Cornish and be published on the Mills & Boon website.
