Ladyfest Leeds Presents: Art and Activism with For Books’ Sake

8th Jul 2013

If art and activism sounds like the ultimate combination and you live anywhere near Leeds, then get Tuesday 30th July in your diaries now.  Because the Ladyfest Leeds crew are coordinating an event you won’t want to miss at the LS6 Cafe near Hyde Park.

First on the bill is comedy writer, performer, artist, educator and old-skool zinester Chella Quint. Originally from Brooklyn in New York, Chella now lives in Sheffield and is guaranteed to entertain.

Next up, a contingent of the Leeds Roller Dolls, the first Yorkshire all-female flat-track roller derby team, who’ll be revealing all about the history and sport of roller derby, along with what it means to them.

For Books’ Sake will be there too, selling copies of our bold and brilliant anthology Derby Shorts, a collection of the best new fiction from the roller derby track.

Entry is by donation, and all proceeds will be split between Ladyfest Leeds’ two nominated charities; Support After Rape and Sexual Violence Leeds and Leeds Women’s Aid.

Fancy it? Here’s the Facebook event with the full details, and you can find Chella Quint, Leeds Roller Dolls and Ladyfest Leeds on Twitter too.

See you there!
