For Books’ Sake Presents: Emulating Emmeline at LGF

Suffragette Emily Pankhurst at London's Trafalgar Square

Live in Manchester and identify as a lebsbian or bisexual woman? Then you should definitely come along to our free creative writing workshop taking place at 2pm on Saturday 13th July 2013.

We’re collaborating with the Lesbian & Gay Foundation on their Active Citizens campaign, which is all about empowering lesbian and bisexual women to speak out about the issues that matter to them.

Taking place at LGF in Manchester city centre, we’ll be celebrating the birthday of iconic suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst with a look at her life and work (much of which took place in Manchester) and that of some other inspirational and influential women from our local communities.

In our interactive workshop, we’ll be using storytelling techniques and creative writing exercises to explore these women’s lives in more detail, and whatever your writing ability, we’d love you to be there.

Places are limited, so book yours now by emailing women@lgf.org.uk or calling 0845 3 30 30 30. And in the meantime, tell us: which iconic woman would you most love to write or read about?
