For Books’ Sake at LAB Launch!

On Saturday 30th June, LAB (Live Art Bistro) will officially launch in Leeds, and we’ll be there!

LAB is a joint venture between Indivisible, Testing The Razor and East Street Arts, aiming to create a dedicated space that bridges the gaps between the club, gallery and theatre.

Achtung You Wayward Skies encompasses a week of launch activities, with Saturday’s shindig looking set to – in case there were any doubts after recent successes such as (in)Xclusion and Woolgather Art Prize! – cement Leeds as one of the most exciting places for artists to be right now.

On Saturday, from 8pm, you will be treated to a “night of unfettered entertainment/performance/music/movies/exhibition/voyeurism and boxing” at LAB’s current home, a 10,000 sq. ft. New York loft style building in Leeds city centre. And that’s where we come in…

For Books’ Sake invite you to join us for some smutty storytelling involving all sorts of erotica. You can bring your own favourite filthy fiction by a woman writer, or have a rummage in our box and peruse a number of different titles. Alongside the storytelling, we’ll be celebrating The Good, The Bad and The Throbbing with an interactive wordgame where you can get salacious, suggestive and downright rude, composing your own euphemisms. We’ll be capturing some of this for a video project for the site, so come on down, get smutty and get involved!

Location: Cross York Street, Leeds, LS2 7EE (2 mins from coach station and 10 mins from the train, hoorah!)

Time: 8pm until late

Price: Nominal donation on the door, cheap drinks and snacks inside.

LAB: “Built on the premise that the best ideas are forever unfinished, we provide artists with the space to create and the time to fail in all its potential splendour.”
