For Books’ Sake Wants You!

We’re ramping up our mission to take over the world, and we want you to be a part of it! As you might have noticed, over the bank holiday weekend, we’ve implemented some changes here at For Books’ Sake.
As well as making the site design easier to navigate, we’ve also made some behind-the-scenes changes to make sure the site works just as well on iPads, tablets and mobile devices as it does on your computer. So you can still get your daily dose of books by and for independent women, even while you’re on the go.
And now we’ve got all that in place, we need some new editors! So if you’re passionate about books and would love to get involved with For Books’ Sake, we want you.
Here’s a few more details about what we’re after:
- Do bookish blogs and feminist media sites feature heavily in your daily reading lists? Are you the first to hear about exciting lit news that you can’t wait to share? Then the position of news editor could be right up your street.
We need someone who can keep our readers informed with the latest relevant news, from getting the lowdown on authors’ latest projects to finding out who’s on the shortlists for the major literary prizes.
- Books, books, books! If you are a dedicated book worm with an interest in developing relationships with some of the most exciting publishers of women’s literature, you could be our reviews editor.
You’ll be responsible for liaising with publishers and our contributors to ensure we’re covering the best new releases from a broad range of publishers, authors, topics and genres, with plenty of free books for you to review yourself along the way.
- Have you got the gift of the gab? Do you know a long list of amazing independent, ethical businesses with similar aims and audiences to us? Reckon you could matchmake us? We want someone to work on our advertising and sponsorship partnerships with us.
You’d get commission, the opportunity to develop a valuable network of contacts, and the knowledge that revenue will be invested back into the site, and into making our future dream projects a reality.
- Got an address book full to bursting with media contacts? Brilliant at identifying and securing coverage opportunities? Want to help us expand our reach to new audiences, areas and communities?
We need your help researching possible PR and marketing opportunities, making contact with all sorts of audiences, from student media and schools to independent bookshops and businesses via mainstream magazines, radio and TV.
They’re all part-time roles that could be fit around other positions or projects, and are unpaid at present (we don’t pay ourselves yet either), though we’re hoping that as the site grows we’ll be able to afford to in future.
Interested in any of the above? Send us an email by next Monday 14th May telling us who you are and why you want to be involved (please make sure you specify which role you’re enquiring about in the subject line too), and we’ll send you some more details. And then together we’ll take over the world. Let’s face it, it’s only a matter if time…
