Carrie from Sleater-Kinney To Write Memoir
No title or publication date has been decided on yet, but a statement confirmed that the book will tell the story of “her life in music, from ardent fan to pioneering female guitarist to comedic performer and luminary of the independent rock world.”
The co-creator and star of comedy sketch show Portlandia began playing guitar at the age of fifteen.
Her first band, Excuse 17, toured with Heavens to Betsy, and Sleater-Kinney was initially a side-project for Carrie and Heavens to Betsy vocalist Corin Tucker.
After Sleater-Kinney’s indefinite hiatus, Carrie recorded and toured with Wild Flag, along with other projects, and was the only woman featured in the Rolling Stone readers’ list of Most Underrated Guitarists of All-Time.
Sleater-Kinney continue to be much-loved and listened to by riot grrrls (and boys) all over the world, and fans will be counting down the days and months until they can read her book.
We can’t wait. In the meantime, where did we put that copy of Call the Doctor…?
