Weirdo by Cathi Unsworth Available for Pre-Order
Weirdo, the long-awaited fourth novel by For Books’ Sake favourite Cathi Unsworth, is available for pre-order now.
Published in July by Serpent’s Tail, Weirdo tells the story of Sean Ward, a private investigator commissioned to untangle truth from lies in a long-cold case: schoolgirl Corinne Woodrow’s conviction for murdering a classmate twenty years ago.
But the latest forensic evidence suggests she didn’t act alone, so Sean is off to the seaside town of Ernemouth in Norfolk to find out what happened, and why certain members of the Ernemouth police force are so adamant the case stay closed.
We’ve already read it, and it’s a cracker, with all the staples that fans have come to expect from the ‘first lady of noir fiction.’ It features bad girls, bent cops, witch hunts and weirdos aplenty, with Cathi’s trademark vivid evocations of subculture, time and place.
Our review will be up on the site nearer the time to Weirdo being published in July, but you can pre-order the hardback now for £8.15.
Can’t wait that long? Read Cathi’s other novels, The Not Knowing, The Singer and Bad Penny Blues, or check out our three favourite naughty schoolgirls in the meantime.
