Interview with the Vampire Nominated for Vampire Novel of the Century

Interview_with_the_Vampire_Anne_RiceInterview with the Vampire by Anne Rice is one of the six shortlisted books nominated for the Bram Stoker Vampire Novel of the Century Award.

The prize is coordinated by the Horror Writers’ Association (HWA), in conjunction with the Bram Stoker Family Estate, and will be awarded in March to coincide with the centenary of Bram Stoker‘s death.

And Anne Rice‘s tale of Louis and Lestat is in the running, alongside Salem’s Lot by Stephen King, I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, The Soft Whisper of the Dead by Charles L. Grant, Anno Dracula by Kim Newman and Hotel Transylvania by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.

What do you reckon? Have you read any of them? Which one should take the title, and which other vampire classics should have been shortlisted?

Want more? Find out which classics made it into our three favourite vampire novels. Have a read and let us know which ones you reckon we should be raving about instead.

Or find out why Zillah from Poppy Z. Brite‘s Lost Souls is my most beloved bloodsucker, then tell me who yours would be.
