Marina Warner at The Swedenborg Society

Marina_Warner

Writer and mythographer Marina Warner, author of Monuments and Maidens and From the Beast to the Blond, has penned another analysis of myth, magic, fairytale and folklore.

Stranger Magic: Charmed States and The Arabian Nights was published earlier this month, featuring  retellings of some of the weird and wonderful stories from the classic Arabic narrative alongside lavish illustration. And next week Marina Warner will be talking about it at The Swedenborg Society in London.

Curious about the legacy and impact of The Arabian Nights, the dialogue between East and West, or the strange and sometimes surreal world of dark magicians, animal metamorphoses, genies and flying carpets?

Head to The Swedenborg Society in Bloomsbury next Thursday 24th November. Tickets are £5, and if you want to nosey at the book before then, you can buy it in hardback for £12.39, or get the Kindle edition for £11.15.

Can’t make it? We’ll be going, so you can always read what we thought afterwards instead.
