Introducing the For Books’ Sake Book Club
Bagsy us some comfy armchairs and perhaps a big glass of booze: For Books’ Sake is introducing its very own book club. We spend so much time gabbing about our most beloved books, that it seemed only polite to let you have your say too.
Our first book will be the appropriately-titled Girl Reading by Katie Ward. Published by Virago earlier this year, it features seven chronological episodes that take the reader from medieval Siena through 1600s Amsterdam to present-day Shoreditch and beyond, each one imagining the narrative context to seven real-life portraits of women reading.
Want to get involved? We’ll be meeting in London at the end of the month, so check back here next week for the confirmed venue and date. Not nearby enough for that? We’ve got all sorts of other ways you can still take part. On our For Books’ Sake Forum, we’ve set up the For Books’ Sake Book Club group.
Sign up and tell us your thoughts about the book, what topics we should be nattering about, and any suggestions for books you’d like to nominate for next time. During the book club itself, we’ll have a Twitter hashtag you can use to follow what’s being said and contribute your own ideas and arguments.
We’ll also do a little write-up afterwards with what was said on the night. So even if you couldn’t be there, there’ll still be lots of opportunities to chime in with your thoughts and continue the conversation…
