Jackie Kay wins Scottish Book of the Year!

For Books’ Sake favourite Jackie Kay has been awarded a whopping £30,000, after her autobiography Red Dust Road won the Scottish Book of the Year Award on Friday. Born in Edinburgh and brought up in Glasgow, the author of Trumpet, Darling and Wish I Was Here is a Scottish national treasure.
Written with the warmth and wry humour that characterises Kay’s live appearances (we loved her when we saw her at last year’s London Literature Festival), Red Dust Road is a love-letter to Kay’s adoptive parents (fiercely affectionate Glaswegian socialists), and the story of her search for and reunion with her birth parents.
For more about the Scottish Book Awards, take a peek at our competition from earlier this year, where we gave you the lowdown on all four shortlisted titles. Or to get your mitts on the winner, order Red Dust Road from Amazon for £8.50 in hardback, or £4.79 for the paperback edition.
