Love, Lust & Lit with Rubyyy Jones: Dark Desires edited by Miranda Forbes
Our erotica columnist Rubyyy Jones returns with a collection of tales about sex with ghosts, vampires, witches and werewolves…
Hi Looovers!
For my second LLL selection I’ve chosen Dark Desires; twenty stories of alien (vampire, demon, ghost) love and lust. Now I have to admit, I can get on board with the whole sexy vampire thing, and I’m pretty sure that werewolf on True Blood is the most perfect man I’ve ever seen and I’d love to…read a story about him.
But I was skeptical about sexy ghosts, demons and the like. Miranda Forbes has put together a strong collection of paranormal tales that I think has a perfect piece (or three or ten) for everyone. I didn’t love every story but there were many that I enjoyed and of course, what floats my boat may sink yours, and vice versa.
When I am reading my selections I mark in pink pen for stories I love, orange for stories I like and yellow for stories that weren’t my thing; in Dark Desires I highlighted nine excellent pieces in pink and I definitelyyy have a vampire thing.
My most favourite tale was Dancer In The Dark, written by Scarlett Blue; perfectly placed in the collection, just I was thinking ‘maybe this just isn’t for me’ was her very zingy story of a vampiric threesome.
Scarlett painted a vivid picture right away as our leading lady vampire stripped and sucked the blood of her customers in a strip club, before meeting her match in a handsome, curiously strong stranger.
The depth of her characters was there from the beginning, so I was connected and tuned in for their naughty twists and turns, which is what makes erotica hot.
I also loved House Of Seven Inches, written by Michael Bracken; a lovely gay erotic fuck from beyond the grave, what more does a girl need? I loved the inclusion of the paranormal element, it was seamless and easy, some of the concepts I found a bit distracting so I really appreciated Bracken’s elegant and dirty style.
Depending which shape your Love That’s Out Of This World takes, there will likely be several stories for you, as there are a range of creatures, as well as levels of erotic; anything from witches to shapeshifters, femdom to vanilla.
So I was skeptical to start but Dark Desires definitely changed my mind and showed me there were many chapters of the genre I could connect with. As it does have such a diverse selection, I think it would be a great book to read if you weren’t yet sure if you could get into the paranormal side of erotica.
If you’re already fan, there are twenty delicious stories waiting for you to enjoy. Published earlier this year by Xcite Books, you can buy it in paperback for £5.85.
Love Lust & Lit,
♥
