Alternative Press Festival 2011
Make some space on your bookshelves and count out your pocket money in preparation, because the Alternative Press Festival is coming to town! Taking place in London from next Friday 27th May until Monday 13th June, there’s all sorts in the works at this two-week celebration of the D.I.Y self-publishing scene.
Zinesters, artists, illustrators, printers and publishers will all be representin’ at the annual festival, which this year includes a two-day small press fair at Conway Hall. Featuring exhibitors from all over the world and a programme of talks and workshops, you can expect to cut and paste with Josie Long, plus sessions on alternative comics and radical publishing.
Other highlights of the fortnight’s festivities include a week-long takeover of The New Gallery in Camberwell by Swedish comic school Malmö, featuring film screenings, exhibitions and a storytelling zine sleepover on Thursday 3nd June. Bring your blankets and sleeping bags for a night of reading, writing, storytelling and spoken word. We’ll bring the hot chocolate…
