Five-Minute Friday: Sara Teresa
Name: Sara Teresa
Day job: Administrator at Leeds Law School
Extra-curricular: Fine art photographer, feminist (and often a feminist photographer), protester, tea drinker, collector of nostalgic pavement.
Favourite book of all time: Lonesome Dove (an unusual choice perhaps but if you haven’t read it, you can’t know…inspired dialogue and descriptions, vividly painted scenes, full of strong female characters… it can’t help that it’s classed as a “western”).
Literary pet peeves: Weakly written female characters without spine or opinion, who apparently find it perfectly acceptable to spend all of their days searching desperately for approval (from men, women, cats etc) instead of just getting on with things…. also, I hate the Oxford Comma.
Guilty pleasure: Literary guilty pleasure? I’d like to say Mills & Boon but I’ve not actually read any of them! Er, probably the Artemis Fowl series…. I refuse to say Harry Potter. Non-literary? Jason Mraz, Nine Inch Nails, Clueless, Tomb Raider and vegan marshmallows.
Three favourite authors: Painful to pick three but okay…. John Irving, Irving Stone, Scarlett Thomas (I didn’t plan that two Irving thing).
Favourite fictional character: This could change at any time, but currently it’s Alice Butler from Scarlett Thomas‘ PopCo, I see so much of myself in her (for better or worse).
Other recommended reading: Right now I’m obsessed with the photographic work of Deborah Parkin and Dusdin Condren. For booky stuff, I love Leeds Book Club and For Books’ Sake, of course! The best book I’ve read in ages, which I just finished, was Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. And of course, you can visit me or my Etsy shop.

Thanks so much FBS, I’m not worthy x
Oh, but you are!
Wow, great interview!
Not just because of the lovely flattering little note about us but also because I know now what an oxford comma is.
In fact, I’ve just taken one out of the sentence above!
Have a lovely weekend!
Why thank you! We may have to get swotting up about that oxford comma…
