Faceout Books

So beautiful are the book cover designs featured on Faceout Books that any browsing session inevitably ends in delirious drooling and an ever-expanding wishlist. Recommended to us by Frances Evangelista from Nonsuch Book after last year’s feature on gorgeous books blogs, I’ve been perving over it ever since.

Edited and updated by Charles Brock, the Creative Director at Faceout Studio, the range of innovative and talented designers featured on Faceout Books never fails to make me swoon and/or grind my teeth with envy and despair that such beautiful books are unlikely to ever be mine. Not fair.

Highlights from the archives include these hand-drawn illustrated covers for the Jules Verne series, designed by Jim Tierney. Although Faceout Books has been on hiatus for the past few months, they returned earlier this month with this aztec-inspired cover for Down & Delirious in Mexico City, designed by Jennifer Heuer.

The posts also regularly feature interviews with the designers about their inspirations and artistic process, so it’s a fascinating insight into what goes on behind the scenes, ideal for voyeurs and publishing nosey parkers like me.

Is there a books-themed blog you think we should be featuring in this series? Let us know in the comments or email us if so!
