Lauren Child and Escape to Wonderland at The Lightbox Gallery
This Saturday 23rd September, The Lightbox Gallery in Woking is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the children’s illustrated Charlie & Lola series with a special event, featuring bestselling author and illustrator Lauren Child (the woman behind the Puffin Designer Classic edition of The Secret Garden we were raving about a while back).
At the event, Laura will be discussing her illustration and the inspiration behind her work, as well as talking about the forthcoming Charlie & Lola book, Slightly Invisible, being published by Orchard at the start of October.
The event is the latest in a series of celebrity lectures at The Lightbox, and accompanies their current exhibition, Escape to Wonderland. From Miffy to Rupert Bear via Elmer the patchwork elephant, the free exhibition features over hundred artworks and cover the history of children’s book illustration from the 19th century to the present day.
Tickets cost from £15, and there’s more details on The Lightbox website.

I’m a little too far away to consider this event. But I just want to say, what a beautiful building! Wow.
Thanks Judith, it is indeed! Apparently the views are pretty special too…
