London Word Festival team up with Turning Point
Despite working out of “a nineteenth-century workshop in Shoreditch with no running water and pigeons the size of small dogs,” the London Word Festival have accomplished some pretty impressive feats since being founded in 2007.
From collaborative ballad printing in Stoke Newington to working with author Iain Sinclair to turn a medieval tower in Hackney into a ghostly sound field, their reputation for working with non-traditional authors, projects and spaces intrigues us, and so we try to keep an eye on what they’re up to.
And next Sunday 19th September, London Word Festival are teaming up with Turning Point at the Roundhouse in Camden to co-programme and produce an all-day jamboree of poetry, storytelling and spoken word. In attendance will be Laura Dockrill, Hannah Silva, Francesca Millican-Slater, independent promoters Eat Your Own Ears and many more.
For full line-up details and more info about Turning Point, have a nosey around their website. Day tickets are £8 on Sunday, or a weekend ticket for three days of arts, music, comedy, cabaret and theatre will set you back £28.
