When we heard that the Independent Alliance were taking over one of Charing Cross Road’s most beloved bookshops for an entire weekend, we couldn’t stop ourselves from picturing a sinister showdown involving sith lords, space stations and lightsabers.
Overactive imaginations aside, the Independent Alliance is actually a network of independent publishers, and next weekend they’ll be setting up shop in Foyles for the eagerly-waited Indie Alliance Weekend. There will be talks, workshops, discussions and debates from a whole host of publishers and authors, including Serpents Tail, Granta, Quercus and Faber.
For full details about the individual talks and events, investigate the Foyles website. Tickets for each day are £15, or if you’re planning on attending on Saturday and Sunday, you can have a whole weekend of literary loveliness for only £25.
