This one features the graphic print cover from an antique leather-bound copy of H.G. Wells‘ Seven Novels and purple, black and wooden bead handles. Like all Smart Girl’s book bags, it’s lined with matching fabric and the spine has been widened and reinforced. As a bonus, with each purchase she includes the original book, covered with the same fabric from the lining of the bag. The H.G. Wells one is $108.50USD, which works out at just over £70.
This Gray’s Anatomy bag is made from a vintage copy of the classic medical textbook with an art deco cover design. It closes with ribbon and a matching button, and costs $108.50USD.
This gorgeous copy of Anne Rice‘s The Vampire Chronicles has been glammed up with the addition of Swarovski crystals and Tim Holtz metal embellishments into this beautiful bag. It closes with an antique metal button and cost $128.50USD, which works out at around £85. They are beautiful, but am I the only one that thinks it’s a travesty to cut up an antique book? It’ll just get bashed about as a handbag!
Possibly, but if they’re just sitting on a shelf maybe it’s better that they’re seen and loved and used in a different format. And she does keep the books inside, gives them a new fabric cover and sends them to you with the bag. So you still have both halves and can read the book the cover went with…
