For Books’ Sake Presents: Lit at Ladyfest Ten

BooksPass the smelling salts and ready a nearby chair, we might need a nice cup of tea and a sit down after all the behind-the-scenes excitement we’ve had round here lately. But now, after weeks of clandestine meetings and Bugsy Malone-style wrangling (it wasn’t really like that, obvs. But we wish it had been. If only all meetings could take place in Prohibition-era speakeasies surrounded by children shooting custard guns. The world would surely be a better place. But anyway…), we can finally let you in on a little secret: For Books’ Sake is teaming up with Ladyfest Ten to put on the literary programme for this year’s event!

Yep, Ladyfest is a grand old bird now, nearing her tenth birthday, and we want to celebrate it in style. After a decade of celebrating and promoting female-fronted creativity and counter-culture in all its many and marvelous forms, it’s only fair that we organised a suitably fitting knees-up. (And if you haven’t heard of Ladyfest before, check out the website for loads of info about its history.)

In November, we’ll be putting on an assortment of author events, talks, workshops, readings and performances, and we can’t wait. (Although we reserve the right to rant and rave on here at a later date if and when the stress takes it toll). But before we get cracking organising a stellar line-up of literary superstars and shindigs, we want to hear from you!

Tell us in the poll and comments below who you’d like to see at Ladyfest Ten and, although we can’t make any promises that we’ll be able to convince them all, we’ll certainly use your feedback to shape the programme and make sure we organise events and authors to delight your minds, eyes and ears. And keep your peepers peeled and For Books’ Sake bookmarked, because we’ll be using this blog to keep you up-to-date as we confirm each event. So, speak now or forever hold your peace, and we’ll look forward to seeing you down the front at the literary Ladyfest festivities in November!

Can I choose “a bit of all of them”? Is that too demanding? I’m excited.

  2. Jane Bradley says:

We can but try! So yes, you can choose that option, and we’ll do our best to do your bidding….

If you can get Salley Vickers there I will be well impressed
