London Zine Symposium
Put down the pritt-stick and scissors and scrub clean those grubby ink-smudged fingers, because it’s that time of year once again. Yup, this Saturday 29th May, it’s the fifth annual London Zine Symposium at The Rag Factory near Brick Lane.
From 12-6pm, there’ll be more than sixty stalls showcasing the best zines from across the UK and Europe, and an events programme to make DIY publishers drool. We’ll be on the front row taking notes about how we can take over the world for the Creating Our Own Culture discussion group at 1pm, which looks at setting up independent presses, DIY publishing and organising literary events, with advice from a whole host of DIY heroes and heroines including Patrick from Ricochet! Ricochet! and the marvellous Melanie from Colouring Outside the Lines.
Aimed at celebrating zines, independent publishing houses, comics, radical writers and DIY culture, all events on the day will be free. But if you’re feeling generous, the organisers will be accepting donations towards covering venue costs. Let us know if you’ll be going and we’ll wear something suitably ridiculous so you’ll be able to spot us!
